COVERING ERRORS AND OMISSIONS
We all make mistakes. Unfortunately, when businesses and professionals make mistakes, their aggrieved clients and patients are more likely to file lawsuits than accept an apology. It is therefore in business people’s and professionals’ best interests to avail themselves of “errors and omissions” (E&O) insurance, which covers a company or individual in the event that a client holds them responsible for a service they provided or failed to provide, or that did not produce the expected or promised results. This insurance is often referred to as “malpractice insurance” for doctors, dentists, chiropractors, etc. Lawyers, accountants, architects, and engineers may call it “professional liability” insurance. Whatever name it goes by, it covers policyholders for real and perceived errors or omissions.
