PROTECTING PEOPLE

If you were to only pay attention to the numerous TV advertisements for automobile insurance, you might think that auto insurance policies were solely focused on fixing damaged vehicles. More importantly, there are people inside crashed vehicles who deserve at least an equal degree of protection. While “collision” coverage pays for damage sustained by the policyholder’s vehicle, and “property damage liability” coverage pays for damage to the other driver’s automobile and property, “personal injury protection” (PIP) is coverage that pays for the treatment of injuries to the driver and passengers of the policyholder’s car. “Bodily injury liability” covers the policyholder or designated driver for injuries caused to others. These latter two types of coverage merit careful consideration. People come first.

NOTE: “Comprehensive” coverage is the part of auto insurance that covers loss due to theft or damage caused by something other than another vehicle.
