DO YOU HAVE AN EXIT PLAN?

    When it comes to homeowners insurance, if there’s one thing more important than having sufficient coverage, it’s being sure that you and your family will survive any calamity large enough to prompt a benefits payout. With this in mind, you should develop an evacuation plan that begins with egress down stairs and through open windows and doors, and then continues across county and state if necessary. Start by asking yourself how you or your children would escape from the second or third floor of a burning home. Are rope ladders in place that attach to window sills and allow for easy escape? Do family members know what to do in the event of a fire or severe natural weather event?

HINT: It is a good idea to group together all necessary and irreplaceable legal documents, birth certificates, marriage licenses, financial papers, insurance policy information, etc., in one spot to be grabbed up quickly  in the event of disaster.
